Provo, UT May 21, 2025 — The Kennedy Center has just announced a FREE family screening of the new animated film distributed by Angel, The King of Kings, in the Concert Hall on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Patrons will experience a visually stunning and action-packed adventure the whole family can enjoy. Journey through history alongside a young boy as he witnesses Jesus’ miracles, trials, and ultimate sacrifice. The King of Kings invites us to rediscover the enduring power of hope, love, and redemption through the eyes of a child. Patrons will also enjoy free popcorn at this event.
“This animated film is the perfect family experience, and we are thrilled to bring a special viewing to the Kennedy Center,” said Ambassador Richard Grenell, President of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. “When I saw the advertising campaign for The King of Kings, I immediately knew we needed to have it come to the Kennedy Center. Coincidentally, I was asked to be on a panel with the CEO of Angel Studios, so I cornered him. This is family-friendly programming that we will be doing more of in the future.”
“The Angel Guild has enthusiastically supported The King of Kings since we introduced the film,” said Jordan Harmon, President of Angel. “The success of the film proves that when you give the audience the power to choose, they’ll elevate stories that matter and that will amplify light to families around the globe. The Kennedy Center has the pulse on art and entertainment that is impacting our culture, and to see this film celebrated there is a victory for faith, family, and the future of storytelling.”
“With over $65 million at the global box office, our Angel Guild plays a crucial role in picking winners,” said Jared Geesey, Chief Distribution Officer at Angel. “The King of Kings is an epic, emotional journey made for the big screen, and to show the film at one of our nation’s most iconic venues is an honor.”
Inspired by Charles Dickens, the film follows a father as he tells his son the greatest story ever told, and what begins as a bedtime tale becomes a life-changing journey. Through vivid imagination, the boy walks alongside Jesus, witnessing His miracles, facing his trials, and understanding his ultimate sacrifice. The King of Kings invites us to rediscover the enduring power of hope, love, and redemption through the eyes of a child.
“The King of Kings has become the most successful theatrically released faith-based animated film in history. But its greatest achievement is in the hearts it’s moved—and its screening at the Kennedy Center is a symbol of just how far truth and light can travel,” continued David Fischer, Head of Acquisitions & Business Affairs at Angel.
Created by Mofac Animation, the film is directed by Seong-Ho Jang and features an all-star voice cast—including Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens, Uma Thurman as Catherine Dickens, Pierce Brosnan as Pontius Pilate, Mark Hamill as King Herod, Roman Griffin Davis as Walter Dickens, Forest Whitaker as Peter, Ben Kingsley as High Priest Caiaphas, and Oscar Isaac as Jesus Christ. Emmy® and Tony Award®-winning actress and singer, Kristin Chenoweth, lends her remarkable talent to perform “Live Like That,” an original end title song for the animated feature film. Penned by Chenoweth, Kellys Collins, Tim Nichols, Matt Wynn and produced by Keith Thomas, “Live Like That” shares a story of yearning for a childlike faith. The screenplay is by Jang and Rob Edwards (The Princess and The Frog), with cinematography by Woo-hyung Kim (The Little Drummer Girl). Producers include Jang and Kim.
