Students Invited to Compete in ArtsQuest’s New 48 Hour Cell Phone Film Challenge

BETHLEHEM, PA—Student filmmakers from throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley are invited to showcase their creativity on their smart phones by taking part in ArtsQuest’s inaugural 48 Hour Cell Phone Film Challenge this fall.  The challenge will begin Nov. 6, 5 p.m., and the videos will be shown Nov. 8 (time to be announced) at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, as part of the Greater Lehigh Valley Filmmaker Festival, set for Nov. 6-8.

Students may participate in groups of any size.  Participants will be presented with both a prop and a line of dialogue at the start of the competition.  The content of the films must be related to the dialogue, and the prop must be visible in at least one scene and specifically referenced by one of the characters.  Films will be judged on overall artistic merit, as well as on creative use of the dialogue.

Students must register at www.artsquest.org/film by Oct. 24 to participate. All footage must be captured using a cell phone camera; use of full-size video cameras is prohibited.  The competition is open to students in grades 7-12 and college.  Students must be 13 or older as of Sept. 1, 2014 to participate.
