LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2013) – Lionsgate, in association with Cowgirl Up Entertainment, will be distributing ANGELS SING in North America across all platforms.   The film premiered in theaters and on demand earlier this month with the DVD slated for a Dec. 10 national release.   ANGELS SING launched at SXSW and enjoyed sold out screenings at the Heartland Film Festival in anticipation of the film’s opening.

Elizabeth Avellán, Fred Miller, and Shannon McIntosh produced the movie, based on Turk Pipkin’s classic Christmas novel “When Angels Sing.”  Tim McCanlies (Secondhand Lions) directed Lou Berney’s screenplay; Dominic Cancilla and Turk Pipkin (author of the book “When Angels Sing”) co-produced the film.  Mary Dickinson, Charlene Fisher, Scott Rankin, Sharon Rankin, and Randall Dark are executive producers.

ANGELS SING tells the story of Michael Walker (Harry Connick, Jr. – Dolphin Tale) who wished every day could be Christmas … that is until a tragic accident crushed his holiday spirit.  Thirty years later, Michael still can’t muster any joy for the holidays, despite encouragement from his playful wife (Connie Britton – Nashville, Friday Night Lights) and well-intentioned parents (Kris Kristofferson and Fionnula Flanagan).   But when his young son (Chandler Canterbury) faces a tragedy, Michael needs to make amends with his past.  A mysterious man named Nick (Willie Nelson) gives Michael a gift and instills in him the courage to find the joy that he lost.

Mary Dickinson, co-founder and CEO of Cowgirl Up Entertainment said: “We are thrilled to be distributing ANGELS SING.  There is a surge in demand from both audiences and theater owners for more PG entertainment—engaging, commercially viable, family films with recognizable stars and a great story.   ANGELS SING fits that bill perfectly.”  Adds Cowgirl Up Entertainment Co-founder and President, Charlene Fisher:  “We are especially proud of our nationwide program of private benefit screenings and PSA’s with our stars to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.”

Elizabeth Avellan, ANGELS SING producer explains:   “It was a dream come true for me to produce this inspirational Christmas film with such an incredible collection of actors/musicians/friends like Harry Connick Jr., Connie Britton, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett and the entire cast.”
