LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 1, 2013) – Enthuse Entertainment’s riveting family-friendly drama, Alone Yet Not Alone, became the highest grossing movie this weekend in terms of per screen average (combining theater ticket sales with Seatzy ticket sales), reaching $13,396 per screen in its limited opening in Grand Rapids, Mich., Franklin, Tenn., San Antonio, Texas, Houston, Texas, Dallas, Texas, Knoxville, Tenn., Raleigh-Durham, N.C., Atlanta, Ga., and Colorado Springs, Colo. This per screen average dwarfed the screen average of most other wide release movies, including Enough Said (which did $9,238 per screen) and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 (which did $8,439 per screen), ranking Alone Yet Not Alone as one of the highest per screen average independently released faith-based films to date.
While national box office reporting companies report a smaller number per screen officially (showing the film #5 nationwide), the film’s ticket pre-sales campaign through Seatzy (an online ticketing reservation service), Christian radio stations and local Christian churches and ministries pushed sales way beyond theater chain expectations.
“We are thrilled with the box office results for Alone Yet Not Alone,” says Jeannie Deibis, buyer, Celebration Cinema chain . “We hope to play the film again in February, and are really excited about the pre-sales campaign, clearly it works! We did 45% in Seatzy pre-sales, and 55% in walk up business.”
Depicting a family at a critical juncture in America’s history, the blockbuster hit is based on the true story taken from the novel of the same name written by Tracy Leininger Craven and features an experienced team of production executives, cast, and crew. The flagship production stars Kelly Greyson (Return To The Hiding Place) with Jenn Gotzon (God’s Country, Frost Nixon) and actor/musical artist Clay Walker (Clay Walker: Jesse James).
Alone Yet Not Alone is designed to encourage and uplift families in difficult times and tells the inspiring story of Barbara and Regina Leininger and their journey of faith and survival during the French & Indian war in 1755. Captured by the Delaware Indians in a raid on their home and transported over 300 miles of wilderness to Ohio, the sisters are sustained only by their abiding trust in God, and their hope of escape against all odds to be reunited with their family.
A movie filled with action, drama and suspense, Alone Yet Not Alone was filmed on location at historical sites in Tennessee, Virginia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina to allow audiences to take the journey with the characters. Filmmakers realized that in order to tell the story authentically, they would need to shoot where the events actually happened or those similar in terrain.
Highlighting themes of endurance, perseverance and faith with positive values and entertaining action sequences that make it safe viewing for families, the film recently garnered the “Family-Friendly Seal” (12+ years) with a five Dove rating from the prestigious Dove Foundation, an organization that provides online family movie and video reviews and ratings.
Enthuse chose to release Alone Yet Not Alone through a new revolutionary movie ticket reservation platform and film distribution company called Seatzy™ (www.seatzy.com/alone). Seatzy allows moviegoers to participate in the process of supporting the films they love by getting ticket reservations in early and assuring the film will play in the theater closest to them.
With its recent box office success, plans are currently underway to roll out a nationwide release of the family-favorite film on February 21, 2014 with opening cities to be announced at a later date.
