DANVILLE, KY — You never know where a good idea will strike. For Christian comedian Mickey Bell, it happened somewhere between cracking jokes on a film set and pitching a movie idea to Superman.

JCFilms has officially announced production on its newest faith-based comedy-drama, Second Chance, starring Mickey Bell and actor Dean Cain. The film begins shooting in February 2026 in Danville, Kentucky, and promises to deliver a heartwarming redemption story with a side of laugh-out-loud humor.

Mickey Bell first made his way onto a JCFilms set during the production of The Holy One, a golf-themed faith film. Originally, he came just to be funny, mission accomplished. His comedic timing and infectious personality made such a strong impression that by the end of the shoot, the crew was convinced he’d been secretly acting in films for years. (Spoiler: He hadn’t.)

But the real plot twist happened off-camera. While on set with Dean Cain, Mickey shared a story idea he’d been carrying in his heart for a while about a fallen pastor who finds God’s grace in the aisles of an auto parts store. Dean listened… and then did what Dean does best: he got excited. Really excited. And just like that, Second Chance was born.

“He loved it,” Mickey recalled. “I was halfway through the pitch, and Dean was already like, ‘We’re making this movie.’ I thought he was joking, but then he put on his producer face and things got serious—well, as serious as Dean Cain can get while standing next to a comedian.”

Synopsis: Second Chance

When Pastor David Cole’s long-buried moral failure suddenly resurfaces, his once-thriving ministry crumbles overnight. Fired from his church, evicted from the parsonage, and abandoned by the community he once led, David sinks into a season of shame, anxiety, and regret.

As his family struggles to adjust, a brutal incident at his daughter’s school forces David to confront his pride and begin the painful journey toward healing. Through counseling, medication, and some hard truth, David slowly begins to rebuild his life only to find that no church will hire him again.

Desperate to provide for his family, David humbles himself and takes a job at a local NAPA Auto Parts store. What begins as a humiliating detour turns into an unexpected classroom of grace, where David learns the beauty of serving others outside the pulpit.

Just when he least expects it, a life-changing opportunity arrives one that’s bigger than anything he imagined, and proof that God’s greatest blessings often come from the least likely places.

Second Chance is a heartfelt, hilarious redemption story that blends faith, humility, and a touch of oil-stained humor to remind us that no failure is too great for a comeback.

The film will mix Mickey Bell’s trademark humor with Dean Cain’s seasoned screen presence to tell a story that’s equal parts inspiring and hysterical. As JCFilms puts it, “It’s a redemption story with heart, laughter, and probably a few oil stains.”

“This is exactly the kind of story we love to tell at JCFilms,” said Jason Campbell, President of JCFilms. “It’s funny, it’s honest, and it points people toward grace in a way that feels real. Mickey and Dean have incredible chemistry, and I think audiences are going to fall in love with this film.”
