ArtsQuest Invites Local Filmmakers to Submit Works for Open Screenings July 31 at SteelStacks
Bethlehem, PA- Local filmmakers are invited to test screen their work-in-progress films in a theater environment July 31, 7:15 p.m., at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas in the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. The free event is designed to provide a unique experience for individuals with a passion for filmmaking who are looking to gain valuable feedback from peers and industry professionals. High school and college film students are also invited to apply and attend.
“We’ve been honored to showcase the work of local and regional filmmakers for the past six years as part of the Greater Lehigh Filmmaker Festival,” says ArtsQuest Director of Cinema & Comedy Programming Ryan Hill. “One of ArtsQuest’s primary objectives is fostering local artistic talent, and this extends to area filmmakers, so this is a great way to expand the programs and resources we can offer our creative community.
“For the past several years, we’ve offered open mic nights for local musicians and comedians to try things out in a low-pressure situation. We want these open film screenings to provide the same opportunity for Lehigh Valley filmmakers.”
Selected films will be presented on the cinemas’ screens and provide the opportunity for filmmakers to receive and offer feedback to each other, as well as receive feedback from members of ArtsQuest’s Cinema Committee. There is no submission fee for filmmakers, and screenings are free and open to the public.
Filmmakers can fill out a submission form at www.steelstacks.org/event/5060/open-screenings/; deadline for submissions is July 13. Films must be 20 minutes or less and submitted via data DVD, BDR, external hard drive or flash drive. They can be mailed or delivered to:
