THE IDENTICAL: ORIGINAL MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE RE-RELEASES TODAY
Double-Disc Soundtrack Coincides with Release of The Identical Home Video
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 13, 2015) – City of Peace Media and Capitol Christian Distribution are pleased to announce the re-release of The Identical: Original Music from the Motion Picture, on CD January 13, 2015, to coincide with the release date of The Identical home video, which is available today on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, Digital HD & DVD. The double-disc album features 29 tracks, including 22 original songs, from such standout artists as House of Peace, Blake Rayne, The Morph Kings, Darcey & Mo and The Ricky Reece Band, along with an original score by Christopher Carmichael and Klaus Badelt (Seven Days in Utopia, Shanghai Calling).
The film features an all star ensemble cast, including Ashley Judd (Dolphin Tale 2, Divergent), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Field of Dreams), Seth Green (Austin Powers, Family Guy), Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos, The Matrix), Brian Geraghty (Ray Donovan, Seven Days in Utopia, The Hurt Locker), Erin Cottrell (the Love Comes Softly series), Amanda Crew (Charlie St. Cloud), and introduces the multi-talented Blake Rayne in the dual roles of Drexel Hemsley and Ryan Wade, twin brothers separated at birth. Drexel emerges from crushing poverty to become an iconic 50’s rock ‘n’ roll star, while Ryan is raised as the straight-laced son of a Southern preacher. The characters’ diverse lifestyles offer Rayne an incredible platform to display both his acting and singing chops.
Creating an engaging original soundtrack designed to replicate three of the most creative decades of pop music, including the birth and development of rock ‘n’ roll would be a Herculean task for most producers. Fortunately, producer Yochanan Marcellino didn’t have to look far to find a visionary record producer who was instrumental in the development of the music of those decades. Yochanan’s father, Jerry Marcellino, produced many of Motown’s top artists during the 1970s, including Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Lionel Richie & the Commodores and Smokey Robinson, earning 17 Gold albums, 6 Gold Singles and 3 Platinum albums. The father and son team joined forces to create a compelling movie soundtrack.
Newcomer Blake Rayne takes center stage on the album, performing 12 of the project’s 29 songs, including the Elvis inspired, hip-swiveler “Boogie Woogie Rock and Roll,” the Jerry Lee Lewis inspired “Bee Boppin’ Baby,” the lovely and romantic “Your Love’s Keepin’ Me Tonight,” and the driving, rock ‘n’ roller “G.I.R.L.S.”
While Rayne delivers as the film’s frontman, there is plenty of additional great music on the two-disc soundtrack. Ricky Reece, who may be one of the world’s fastest mandolin players, delivers the scorching bluegrass number, appropriately titled “Burnin’ Rubber.” Blues/boogie band The Morph Kings, contributes a half-dozen original tunes to the project, including the old-school boogie of “Mellow Down Easy,” a Stevie Ray Vaughn-esque rocker called “I’m Gonna Die Tryin'” and the moody bluesy “Strange Love.” No exploration of the music of the era would be complete without a little soul. Enter the duo of Darcey & Mo with the teen idol heartthrob tune “Angel of Mine,” a funky re-imagining of the Ringo Starr classic, “It Don’t Come Easy,” and rollicking big band rockers, “Don’t Cha Just Walk By Me” and “You Gotta Get Up.” Add in the stirring symphonic score by composers Christopher Carmichael and Klaus Badelt, and this double disc soundtrack offers up more than 90 minutes of incredible music.
