COLORS OF CHARACTER: An Artist’s Journey to Redemption –
Streaming in a Special One-Night-Only Online Event
Powerful Documentary Shares Prolific Artist Steve Skipper’s Journey from Gangs to Faith and Redemption
Franklin, TN – After an impressive opening in select theaters across the US, the powerful true story of Steve Skipper will stream live for a special one-night-only event. On December 11, the feature-length documentary COLORS OF CHARACTER: An Artist’s Journey to Redemption as well as exclusive additional footage will be available to view at https://live.colorsofcharactermovie.com/.
The film event will launch at 8 pm local time. After this special event, anyone who has purchased a ticket will have access to re-watch the film an unlimited number of times through January 31, 2021.
In addition to the December 11 event, churches, schools, and organizations can become a theater for their community and show COLORS OF CHARACTER through the Faith Content Network. This network can be an incredible asset to bring powerful stories of faith to communities where theaters may currently be closed or at a limited capacity.
When asked about the film’s success, Skipper refers to it as an ongoing out-of-body experience, as he doesn’t know how to take in all that God has done in his life.
“The inch by inch joining of the tapestry of my life is a mind-blowing experience that I will never allow to get old,” Skipper shares. “My main objective in this film project was not to become anyone’s ‘star,’ because the only Star in my life is the Bright and Morning Star who shined his life into my dark world and saved me. The tremendous thrill of hearing my daughter and wife in tears after watching COLORS OF CHARACTER and then dedicating themselves deeper to Christ is a payoff that can never be matched.”
Skipper continues, “I pray that this movie continues to push people to wait on the heart of God and get into a place where they can get spiritual shovels and dig up their great, unique gifts and use them for God’s purpose.”
As one of the most prolific artists in the genres of sports art civil rights artwork, Skipper has shattered barriers of race in the fine art world. With no formal training, Skipper has honed his unique, meticulous style of super-realism and has his work on display in some of the most prestigious galleries, sports and civil rights museums, and halls of fame in the US. The film shares both Skipper’s own insights but also features interviews with key figures in Steve’s life – from faith leaders to sports figures to Civil Rights icons.
Most would be surprised to hear the backstory of Skipper’s extraordinary life. As a young child, he was bussed to a newly integrated school in Birmingham, AL where he became a leader in a notorious street-gang. After going to church on a dare, Skipper had a life-changing encounter with Christ that transformed his entire life. Shortly after, he picked up a paintbrush and quickly understood his God-given calling as an artist. Skipper turned down a football scholarship to hone his craft, a meticulous style of super-realism, and fearlessly saying “yes” to projects and contracts that were far beyond his qualifications. Skipper’s is a story of a man who trusted God’s calling on his life and found success beyond his wildest dreams.
