BURBANK, CA – The 13th annual 168 Film Festival will unspool at Regal Cinemas Premiere House at LA Live on August 29 and 30, 2015. Film teams from around the globe have created engaging stories based on Biblical scriptures with the 2015 theme: “Freedom.” The 168 Film Project is a speed competition, which allows just 168 hours (one week) to shoot and edit a short film entry. Tickets to attend the 168 Film Festival are available at 168-film-festival.ticketleap.com.

Film industry professionals will choose the winners, who will share $25,000 in cash and prizes. The judges include Michael Warren (Executive Producer “Perfect Strangers,” Co-creator/Exec Producer “Step by Step,” and Exec Producer “Lethal Weapon”); Dave Alan Johnson (Co-Creator/Executive Producer for the TV Series, “Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye,” and “Doc” and Exec Producer for “Mom’s Night Out”); and Gary Skeen Hall (Sr. VP of Post Production for 20th Century Fox TV, where his duties include supervising “24,” “The Simpsons,” and “Homeland”).

A major thrust for 168 Film is promoting emerging artists.  To that end, the festival will feature selected alumni films, including the 2008 Best Film winner “Stained,” by Joshua and Rebekah Weigel. This, their second film, led to their next big short film project, “The Butterfly Circus,” which has been viewed over 40 million times and is currently available in 25 languages. “Lord of the Rings” trilogy Executive Producer Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming, former New Line Cinema executive, have signed on to produce the feature length version of “The Butterfly Circus.”

Also screening at the 168 Film Festival is the 2013 Best Film winner, “Removed,” by Nathanael and Christina Matanick. The film follows the journey of two siblings, who are separated by the foster care system. It has been viewed 3 million times and has been licensed by over 300 child welfare advocates in the USA and abroad.

Finally, “Still Born,” by alumni, Andrew Librizzi, is the story of a man struggling with the death of his father.  It garnered 11 award nominations in 2009, and wins for Best Actor, Todd Terry and Best Actress, Liz Cardenas.

Librizzi is one of the 168-empowered career launches. His first feature length film, called “Beyond the Farthest Star” will enjoy a 168-hosted screening on August 13th at AMC Burbank Town Center 6. “Amazing things have happened with my career,” says writer/director Andrew Librizzi, “And it really did start with my short film for 168.”

“Filmmakers receive a unique, experiential jolt during the 168 competition in both creativity and problem solving skills. Achieving results at this pace is predictive of future success, as we can see from all of our talented alumni,” said the organization’s Founder and Director John David Ware.
