This summer, the Levitt Pavilion is also expanding upon its movie offerings by launching the new Summer Concert Movie Series, featuring films showcasing artists such as The Who, Neil Young and Mumford and Sons. The series, which takes place Sundays in July starting at 8 p.m., kicks off July 13 with Big Easy Express. Other movies are The Who at Kilburn July 20, 8 p.m., and Neil Young: Heart of Gold, July 27, 8 p.m.

Big Easy Express follows folk-rock band Mumford and Sons, along with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show, as they journey by train from San Francisco to New Orleans. The part-concert, part-documentary film experience was the 2013 GRAMMY Award winner for Best Long Form Music Video.

The Levitt Pavilion Summer Family Movie Series is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley, Penn Pizza and 100.7 WLEV. Guests attending the Levitt’s two movie series have the option of relaxing on the new benches installed by the City of Bethlehem Redevelopment Authority or bringing blankets and lawn chairs for seating on the Levitt lawn. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Levitt Pavilion’s Mack Café by Rodale Catering, as well as the Mike and Ike Bistro Bar at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. Free parking is available in the parking lots on First Street adjacent to the SteelStacks campus.

“Thanks to its amazing backdrop and popular free summer concert series, the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks has quickly become known as one of the more dynamic performance spaces in the region,” says Bethlehem Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Tony Hanna.  While the venue was initially designed for lawn seating only, the Redevelopment Authority is constantly looking at ways to enhance and improve the experience for visitors at SteelStacks.  These new benches provide seating for up to 250 guests, while blending seamlessly with the Levitt Pavilion’s industrial look and feel.  Most importantly, they allow us to improve access at the site and provide opportunities to expand upon the types of programming that can be offered throughout the year.”
