Kansas City, Mo. (October 30, 2013) The film Unlimited, inspired by true events in the life of Kansas City native and NASA rocket scientist, Harold L. Finch, opened Friday, October 11 in the Kansas City area. In conjunction with its release, Executive Producer Finch and his wife Peggy, offered a free exclusive showing for families of the Olathe public school’s local Title 1 program. This federal program provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

The event was met with a resounding success to a packed house of excited students and family members. In addition to the exclusive showing that included complimentary popcorn, candy and drinks provided by the Finches, all 150 children in attendance also received a copy of Finch’s book, “Three Keys” filled with hope and inspiration.

“Ever since the special showing, I have been inundated with positive feedback from parents, principals and students,” says Dr.  Melanie DeMoss, principal of Arbor Creek Elementary.  “We know that students and parents were challenged and inspired and walked away with a new discovery of their true potential.”

The Finches who grew up in the Great Depression, know firsthand what a special treat this would have been to them as children with relatively no means and have a deep heart and passion to help these local families, which was the catalyst for hosting the event.

“This movie is about the unlimited potential that I believe everybody has, including these children who I can relate deeply to,” says Harold Finch. “My hope is that they walked away encouraged and able to dream impossible dreams.”

With the success of the Olathe Title 1 screening, the Finches plan to incorporate these exclusive movie experiences as an ongoing outreach for kids nationwide.  They are already making plans to set these events up in many cities beyond Olathe.  These similar Title 1 events will be organized to coincide with those cities for similar families who cannot afford to attend and to give kids the experience of a lifetime, while learning about inspiration for their own potential.

When asked about the expense of tickets, popcorn and Cokes for the kids, Harold Finch said, “ministry is not about receiving but about giving.”

Unlimited opened strong in Kansas City, becoming the third highest grossing movie nationwide opening weekend in terms of per screen average (combining theater and Seatzy ticket sales). The film will roll out its national release, opening in additional cities in 2014.
